Eclectus parrots are sexually dimorphic, meaning their genders can be distinguished by their colors. The males are predominantly green and the females are red and blue. The Solomon Island Eclectus is a medium sized parrot around 12 inches long. Eclectus are rated among the top few for talking ability, rivaling the African Grey parrot. They originate from Cape York Peninsula of Australia: Indonesia, Solomon Islands, and New Guinea. The Eclectus Parrot can easily have a life span of 50 years.
